Fender Starcaster Drums – Black
Fender Starcaster Drums – Black
The Fender Starcaster Drumset is a beginner drumset, especially ideal for someone who is interested in trying out drumset without investing a lot of money.
This is a standard drumset, which includes crash cymbal, high hat, snare drum, floor toms, 2 rack toms, and a kick drum. It also includes the throne (seat), a pair of drum sticks, and the hardware.
The hardware, which includes bass pedal, hi-hat and cymbal stands, rims, lugs, tom mounts, etc.) is sturdy, and can withstand the average beginner’s amount of practice.
Plan to replace the original heads (for snare, toms, and bass) with thicker, higher quality heads within just a short time of owning the set.
Although the set comes with a throne, it is not suited for tall people. Stick size isn’t notated, so plan to pick up an extra pair of sticks – 5A for younger kids, 5B for teenagers and adults.

Not bad for the money…
Well, I’m still currently using a heavily modified version of the fender Starcaster, meaning just the original shells. I’ve changed the skin, the hardware, the rims, the heads, the stands, and the stool. The shells, are fine. The original equipment it came with are okay but any upgrades you can make are worth the time. The heads were dented within the first 3 days of my use and since I wanted them tuned low, it was almost impossible to diddle+ or double-stroke+ them. The bass head was fine the outer head is just for show so I changed it early on for a tuned head so my sound would sound like that of a bass. The hi-hat cymbals held up, and the “crash” cymbal was dented very easily. The hardware is fine, the hi-hat stand is the only thing I would say is mediocre about it. The bass peddle is fine, the snare stand is fine, the sound of the snare is average, I muffled the inside of it with a bit of duct tape for a deep sound, but if you’re looking for something else, invest in an aluminum snare drum. The floor tom is fine.
The rack tom sizes are I believe 12″ and 13″, and don’t have a lot of size difference but their sound is diverse. The cymbal does have a rich sound in the areas I performed in, but if your performance environment is a bit different then a garage, then you might want to pick up some more cymbals.
All around, this drum set is decent for the price, I certainly don’t regret purchasing it. Makes a great gift for any drummer-to-be or any current drummer using a smaller set than this one!
GREAT beginner kit!!! Shells are good; the cymbals are ok. I put new “Attack” heads and “Zildjian” cymbals on it as well as a “DW” double bass pedal. Sounds great w the new add-ons, but if your just beginning; CANT BEAT THE PRICE for what you get;))) Must have if you are considering learning drums before you work your way up to a $4000 kit!!! I play a Simmons SD7PK digital kit because its quiet, but I sure miss my old Fender!!!!!!!
Great kit for a beginner. But, the hi-hat stand
is already frozen after two weeks of play.
Still, I’m having great fun, getting decent sound and I’ll pick up a used
hi-hat stand made by a drum manufacturer
Absolutely worth the price!
